Bella – ADOPTED!
My name is BELLA and I’m a purebred German Wirehaired Pointer. I’m two years old and I’m big and beautiful! And silly. And very affectionate. My mom has another GWP, a little older than I am, but because I’m still a puppy and have lots of energy, she feels it’s just too much for her to manage two young dogs. My dad recently passed away so there is no one to help her take care of us. I need a lot more exercise than she is able to give me so she wants me to have a family who will run me and help me get rid of all the energy
My dad got my brother and me for hunting but, unfortunately, I am gun shy. If someone is a serious hunter, I probably would not be the right dog for him or her. But I am a wonderful family dog! Because we have a doggie door, I am house trained and have never had an accident in the house. I spend a lot of time going in and outdoors and have free run of the house when my mom is home which is most of the time. We are crate trained but spend very little time in our crate. At night, we sleep in our mom’s bedroom or on dog beds. I do need some obedience training to learn commands better and I need practice walking on a leash. Being outside is where I spend lot of time because I can run. It’s a good thing that we have a 6 ft. privacy fence; I would be over a shorter fence to do what I so love to do . . . run. In fact, if the front door is left ajar, I will bound out and disappear. I usually come back after a little while but I sure scare my mom while I’m gone. There is one skill I won’t need training on . . . cuddling. I practice that a lot and am really good at it!
I sure like to be with people. I’m very friendly and waggle my tail a lot. But even though I’m a fairly big girl, I’m very gentle. And I’m really friendly with dogs, too. Cats, I’m not sure about. I’ve never spent any time with one of those. My mom spends a lot of time with us so she knows me pretty well. She says that some of my best traits are that I am playful and very adventurous.
That probably why I love to run. There are so many great smells and critters outdoors. Rabbits are the best for chasing. But mom says my very best quality is that I’m very loving and affectionate.
My mom knows that I need lots of exercise and some training but it’s just too much for her. She hopes that a very active family who loves the outdoors, who will spend time training me, and who will give me lots of love and cuddling will make me part of their family. I want that, too!
