Benny – ADOPTED
Hi everyone,
My name is Benny and I am so handsome. I’m a purebred German Shorthaired Pointer and am currently living with a family in Cheyenne, WY. I am hoping for a new family that will love me as much as I will love them. I promise that you will not be able to resist my exquisite soulful eyes. I am just a love muffin, loving to cuddle with my current family. I’ll make you put that book down and stroke my ears.
I’m a year and seven months old, so I am still a bit of a puppy. My energy needs a human who can run with me, exercise with me, and maybe hunt. I have not tried that yet. I weigh about 56 lbs (that’s 56 lbs of love!) and am neutered and current on all my shots. I’m crate trained, house trained, and know all my commands, including “shake.” Sometimes my mom has to say it twice, but I am smart. My leash manners may need a bit more work, though. I’ve been using a Gentle Leader but still pull quite a bit. My current family think I would benefit from professional training
I love to play. Tug of war, fetch, and keep away are my favorites. I bet Frisbee would be a blast. I do have the GSP prey drive, so squirrels, birds, and chipmunks are all very interesting. I am ok so far with cats; in fact, I love to play with them. And, I love water, too. Jumping into the bathtub is great fun, and I will drink from a hose and any pool of available water. We should watch out for that if I am outdoors, as I might catch something. And I think I need to be a “seat down” guy. I am a good car rider and love to place my sweet nose on my humans’ necks as they are driving.
I am hoping to go to a home with a good-sized yard so I can play outside more. My current family took me in from a situation where I lived in an apartment and was crated for most of the day. That’s not good for me. I like other dogs but I have developed some issues with my current family’s children who are both under age10. I have started to growl a bit when they approach me, so I think a home without young children is probably best. I also have a little separation anxiety, probably from being crated for so many hours before my current family took me in. I am not destructive, but I might bark. My current family thinks with love and attention, and lots of cuddling, I will grow out of this.
Like all GSPs, I am very playful and have high energy (I have two speeds, on and off ). I am very loyal and will be devoted to my new family if they can give me time, attention and cuddling, and training. I would love to have a new family of my very own.
