Brooke – Adopted
Most important things for my new family to know about me:
Hi, my name is Brooke! I am a fun-loving, 1-year old purebred German Shorthaired Pointer. I am still a puppy with an amazing coat and beautiful hazel eyes. I am pretty sharp and already know several behaviors: sit, down and kennel and I’m working on healing and place and on my recall, I am very food motivated. I am also housebroken and will let you know when I need to go outside. I still need some work walking on leash but I am a fast learner. I dorequire a backyard with a 6-ft. privacy fence to ensure I am safe. I just have a lot of energy and am ready to go!
I enjoy living with other dogs and all I want to do indoors is play, play, play! I need a canine companion that can put up with my puppy phase and coach me on play etiquette, but I am a fast learner. On top of loving other dogs, I love my people! I would stay with you all day if possible and they don’t call us Velcro dogs for nothing. I am good with kids and adults but do need some more work on learning not to jump up when I am excited. I am working through separation anxiety when you leave the room, but I am learning that you going to a different room doesn’t mean that you have left me for good. I am comfortable in a kennel when my foster mom and dad are gone but at night, I really want to sleep in the bed with you, curled up under the blankets. I do have a crazy obsession with socks, so I need to be watched to ensure that I am not stealing them and trying to eat them! Like most GSPs, I want lots of exercise and not just on a leash. I want to be able to run of leash on trails or in fields to get rid of my GSP energy several times a week. If you have a very active outdoor lifestyle and you like to camp and hike or even run, that’s the kind of lifestyle I need to have.
I am working on being comfortable getting in and out of a car. I freeze up when approaching a car but after some treats and patience I will get in and out of the car without issue. I am great in the car once I am in it, and sleep or sit in the backseat. I would enjoy going on all the adventures that my future family goes on. And just to remind you, I love playing with other dogs and would really like another playful dog in my new family but I especially love being with my people! And I do need a family who will be dedicated to giving me the frequent, off-leash exercise that my breed so obviously needs and wants.
