Bruce – Adopted
These are important things that my new family needs to know about me:
1) I need really good exercise, every day. I love adventures!
2) I obey obedience commands so am quite well behaved (although I do bark sometimes).
3) I’m very affectionate.
4) I’m friendly with both dogs and people but sometimes need a brief period to warm up to them.
5) I’m a puppy so my new family needs to continue training me.
Keep reading for a lot more details about me (the bio follows).
I’m BRUCE! I’m a 1 year old I’ve just recently come into the rescue because my family wants me to have a new home that would be much more appropriate for me. My mom and dad are just recently married and just didn’t understand the time and exercise that a GSP boy like me would need. I get a lot of love from them but they know I am not getting the exercise I need from them so they hope I will be adopted by a family who really understands my breed and will spend lots of time giving me the exercise I need.
I am well trained in the basic commands of sit, stay, come, down and off. But I do pull on a leash. I also am trained to let my family know when I need to go outside to potty so I have never had an accident in the house. And I am crate trained but have had no hunt training. I love to retrieve a Frisbee or tennis ball and enjoy going to a dog park for exercise. I like being with other dogs and, of course people, but I’ve never been with a cat. That is a mystery!
I do have my challenges, though. I bark on various occasions like wanting to come into the house, when I’m hyper and want to play, and when I’m hungry. My mom and dad crate me when riding in a car because I bark with excitement, sometimes driving them a little nuts! Also, I still like to chew up my family’s underwear and socks so you would need to pick things up so I can’t do that. I do counter surf sometimes so, no food left on counters (I’ve been told that lots of GSPs do that unless they’ve been trained not to). I get very excited when people come to visit so jumping up on guests is also something I need to learn NOT to do, as well. Can you tell I’m still a puppy and definitely need more training?!
You probably want to know some other details so my mom and dad wrote this about me: “ Bruce is a very loyal boy. He will always be by your side unless he sees a squirrel, bunny or bird. Bruce loves dog parks and any open space. He is trained on an e-collar so you won’t have to worry about him running away. He sits before eating every meal and sits, shakes/down for a treat. He is very snuggly when he gets sleepy. He will circle 2-3 times and curl up into a little ball as close as he can possibly get to you. He is very smart and is very good at fetch. Bruce is an all-around very good boy who will sit with you, love you and be your companion but rebels when not exercised.”
