Bud – Adopted
I’m BUD! (Buddy). I’m a 7-year-old purebred GSP and I want to tell you about me. I lost my original dad a year ago and am currently living with his next door neighbor who learned that my dad passed away so he stepped up to make me part of his family. Boy, am I lucky that he wanted to be there for me. My current dad has had me for about a year and is now dealing with some health issues so he wants to find a wonderful new home for me.
I live with my dad’s 3-year-old Lab and we have a lot of fun playing together. We both have free rein in the house and hang out together much of the day. Our dad works from home almost every day so we don’t spend much time alone. When he is gone,we just spend our days in the house. We are not crated. We are allowed on the furniture and I love snoozing and hanging out on a couch. Mostly I’m pretty chill. At night I sleep on the bed with Dad. That is pretty great!
We go to the dog park often for lots of exercise. I am a very happy boy so I get along fine with the dogs and if there’s one who seems a little pushy, I just back off and go do my own thing. I don’t like confrontation. But I really just love to run at the park and, especially, in an open field. And I definitely have a prey drive. In fact, I have actually hunted . . . rats. I’ve caught three of them! I am rarely on a leash (I am pretty strong and I do pull on a leash), only when I go from the car to the park or a field. My recall is good so my dad doesn’t have to worry that I will take off. I’m well behaved although once in a while I can be a little stubborn! I know most commands like sit, come, and off and I’m pretty good with stay . . . well, sometimes. When I go out in the front yard with my dad I don’t run off; I stay right there with him. I’m a good listener.
But I have been known to dig in the yard a bit. Nothing major. And I do sometimes bark but only for a good reason, like if someone or a dog walks by the house. But most of the time, I am not a barker. I am a happy boy and really friendly with everyone, including dogs, of course. Even though I am a very tolerant dog, please no cats! What I so love is just being with my family, my dad. He wants you to know that not only am I a very happy, easy-going boy but just a really good pup as well.
