Buddy – ADOPTED!
Most Important things to know about me:
1) I am a senior boy but probably the sweetest one you’ll ever know.
2) I need to have a mom or dad who can spend most of their time with me.
3) I am very gentle with kids.
4) I LOVE to snuggle up with my person or people.
5) I would really enjoy easy walks on trails or in a field.
6) Young, very active dogs are not good housemates for me . . . too much energy.
7) I would not be good with cats.
Hi, my name is Buddy, and I am looking for my forever home! My foster parents think I am around 11 to 13 years old. When they first got me, they thought I was definitely closer to 13 because I wasn’t well taken care of and hadn’t been to the vet in 4+ years. After some love and care, they think I am closer to 11 years old, and even younger at heart.
My foster parents say that I am the sweetest old man, and that they love me and wish they could keep me. Foster dad works full time and foster mom starts nursing school in April 2022 so they want to find me a home with parents who will have more time to spend with me. I don’t need much, but I sure do love being with my humans. I have so much love to give, and really love to be loved on, so I would like an owner who can spend most of their time with me. Ideally, I would like parents who work from home, or are retired. I don’t mind what we do, I just want to be with you.
I need parents who will be patient with me. I don’t see or hear very well, and it takes me more time to get up and around than it used to. I don’t need a crate because I don’t destroy anything in the house, and my foster parents have never crated me. I am house trained, but the only way I know how to let you know I need to go out is to bark, and sometimes I need to go out in the middle of the night. My foster parents say that is my only flaw; other than that, I am pretty perfect! A doggy door might be a good idea for me! One time, my foster parents had a misunderstanding of who was taking me out that day and no one came home for me while they were at work, so I peed in the dog food bowls instead of anywhere in the house!
Currently, at my foster parent’s house, I live with two young GSPs and I don’t mind them, but sometimes they annoy me. I would like to play with other dogs but never learned how so I contribute by barking. I am very gentle and good with young kids. I should probably be in a house that doesn’t have cats. I have not been around them before and when I visited a friend with a cat I bopped it with my nose and tried to chase it.
I love to go on walks and I am so good on a leash! I am learning that I really like the park because I can jog around and show you that I am still a GSP and young at heart. I love attention and to be petted. I used to be a hunter, and my foster parents even took me out with them and let me walk to easy fields, and I had a great time! But, my absolute favorite thing is to cuddle up with my foster parents on the couch.
All I really want is someone who loves my breed, someone who will want to spend lots of time with me, and who will love me, even though I am a senior.
