Charlie – ADOPTED!
I’m Charlie, a 1-1/2 year-old purebred Pointer. And pointing is what I like most to do! If I’m outdoors my nose is close to the ground searching for fresh scents and my eyes are watching for whatever animal is nearby. I get really focused when I pick up a fresh scent or spot an interesting subject. I’m always in pre-point mode and I’m a really good pointer!
Meeting and playing with other dogs is also something I like as long as they are not aggressive. I don’t like fighting and will walk away from an annoying dog to avoid anything like a fight.
Even though I have a lot of energy and like being outdoors I do enjoy hanging out indoors with my person or persons big or little. In my former home, I loved being with my family, especially their four-year-old son. At my foster home, I sleep inside on a couch or a dog bed and sometimes in my foster dad’s bedroom. SIT . . . STAY . . . COME . . . DOWN . . .OFF . . . NO are all things I know and do but sometimes when I’m distracted I don’t respond as well as my foster dad would like me to. I guess I need some more training and practice! Even though I like to spend time inside with my people, I know to only do my business outdoors.
Being left alone or in a kennel is not good for me and I have been known to complain about both. If my people are going to be gone a lot I would really like to have another dog as a companion. We could play and keep each other company so I wouldn’t be lonely.
My foster dad told the rescue: “Charlie is only available for adoption because I can’t give him the lifestyle I believe he deserves. With the right person or family this young boy will be a joy and a treasure.” He added that I really want to hunt. Because I’m a Pointer and have so much energy, my new family will need to give me lots of off-leash exercise everyday, and, hopefully, they will have another young dog who will want to run and play with me. I really want to be a hunting pointer but also part of a family because I like feeling safe and loved.
