Clara – Adopted
Hi, everyone! My name is Clara and I am a Pointer mix looking for my forever home here in Colorado. As you can tell by my photos, I am a young dog, about a year old. And I have the cutest puppy face, don’t I?
I enjoy taking walks and going on adventures with my foster family. And I love going in the car! Being with peopleis probably what I love most. I need some time to warm up to some people but once I am comfortable, and it doesn’t take me long, I will be your best friend. I am learning boundaries when it comes to personal space because I just want to sit in your lap and give you kisses! I do that a lot so we are working on not being so in your face! And I love to cuddle or lean on you to ensure you provide me with all of the attention.
I really like playing with other dogs as well as just lounging with them. I’ve spent some time with a family who has 5 dogs (mostly GSPs) and we all love to race around the yard together and play. They are used to being free in the house when their mom is gone and I‘m great with that, too. I have never chewed or bothered anything in their house. We all just chill on the couches or chairs and, if it’s not toohot, we love to go out and inside any time we want through the doggie door. I also really love bones and toys to chew on. My foster parents call me a hoarder because I like to grab as many bones as I can and make a collection on the bed I am laying on.
I am comfortable being in a kennel while my foster family is at work and am completely house broken. I thrive with routine but I do like visiting new places and sights like Home Depot and pet stores. I am cautious with new people and new sounds but do adjust pretty quickly because I want to be part of the pack and especially want to be close with my people. I will want some additional confidence building and will be happy with positive reinforcement training. At night, I sleep lots of different places but my priority is to sleep near my people. I’m good on a dog bed, especially in your bedroom and I’ve even been OK sleeping in a crate but would prefer the door to be open. In fact, I sometimes like to go in there just for a break. But the very best is to sleep with the people I love. And I don’t even move very much so you may not even know that I am there with you. But I would know! I love that bonding.
I am working on the command “here” while outside and basic house manners but would do well in a home that would continue my training and introduce new things to me. I do really well with reinforcement training. I should mention that I do have a fairly high prey drive and will run after deer or larger animals if not redirected.
