Darcy – ADOPTED!
Most important things for my new family to know about me:
- I am super, super sweet.
- I need a family or person who is home much of the time.
- I’m very affectionate and love to be with people.
- I am good with almost all dogs (except aggressive ones).
- I will chase cats.
Darcy’s Bio
I am super sweet Darcy, a 7-year-old, female purebred GSP and I am kind of an orphan. I’ve just come to the rescue from a sad situation. Unfortunately, I need to find a new home because I recently lost both my mom and dad within 2 months of each other. They discovered me at a vet clinic in TX, having suffered traumatic, human-caused injury. As soon as they saw me, they wanted me to be part of their family. After they adopted me, we moved to Colorado. Now that my mom and dad are gone, other people in their family are unable to take me into their homes so I am hoping the rescue can find a new family and home for me, very soon.
I’m a good girl, well behaved even though mom and dad didn’t do a lot of training with me. I am not crate trained but I am housetrained. I’ve done some counter cruising but lately not as much. Unlike many GSPs, I don’t exhibit a really high energy level since I spend so much time inside. I’ve been content to enjoy leash walks with the help of a gentle leader or a no-pull harness. I have mostly been an indoor girl but I think I would really like more outdoor activity like running in fields or even hiking. After all, I am a Pointer!
My mom and dad were an older couple and were home most of the time so I think I would be happiest in a home with family that is around much of the time. When they were gone for short periods, I was not crated but loose in the house. At bedtime, I sleep on my very own dog bed. During the day, I like going on walks and love lounging in the sun and playing with toys. But probably my favorite pastime is to be close to my mom or dad so they can pet me and give me lots of love! I also like being with other people and that includes toddlers and older kids, too. As you can tell, I love people! I have been living with an older, small dog so I am fine being with other dogs, too. In fact, I like all dogs. I am a submissive pup so it is easy for me to be with other dogs, except I wouldn’t be very comfortable or happy with aggressive ones. Cats I will chase!
I am such a friendly girl and like being with other dogs but I especially like being with people. I am hoping really hard that a wonderful family will want me to become part of their life, wanting to spend a lot of time with me and giving me the affection that I love!
