Denali – ADOPTED!
I’m Denali, a very sweet and energetic 4-month-old purebred GSP puppy. I know I’m pretty adorable but if you are really interested in me, please don’t fill out an application because I’m cute. You need to know that my breed is not for everyone . . . especially, a very young dog like me. We need a lot of attention, training and time with our owners. We need families who have a lot of patience and time to train us.
I am being trained on recall and my mom says I’m a very good student because I know my name and I respond to it really well. I’m also learning how to sit and stay. I think I must be a smart little girl because I’m picking up these commands pretty fast. Mom says I am doing well in my kennel at night and even when she is gone for short periods of time during the day. My littermate and I play a lot together but I also play with my mom and some other big dogs and am really good at keeping up with them. But since I’m a puppy I can be a little annoying with other dogs I live with who don’t want to play as much as I do. Until I’ve had all my shots, I’m not allowed to go out and play with other dogs or meet a lot of people. But I’ll be able to do that very soon. When people come over to our house, though, I love meeting them. And cats? I live with three and we get along pretty well. Because I’m a puppy, I want to play with them so I do chase them but will stop if I’m told to. Although I’m tolerant of cats and I love playing with dogs, I am also very interested in birds. I love to run to the pigeon coop when we go outside and I’ve even been introduced to those birds. Mom says I have the hunting drive which I show her when she or dad is training me on a check cord.
Like most GSPs, especially puppies, I have a lot of energy, playing most of the day. That will eventually turn into needing to run a lot (that’s what pointers do!) and, hopefully, hunting. But at the end of the day, especially if I’ve had the exercise I need, I love to snuggle, right on my mom’s or dad’s lap.
