Diesel – Adopted

Most important things for my new family to know about me:

 

1) I LOVE my people and am an affectionate boy.
2) I need a family who will want to spend lots of time with me.
3) I want to be able to get back to frequent running and hiking.
4) I am well trained in obedience.
5) I’m fine with other dogs but haven’t been around them a lot.
6) I’m good with children.

Hi, everyone!  I am Diesel, a purebred GSP, 6-1/2 years old. I am in Colorado and live in a really nice family with two very young children. And that is why my mom and dad feel that I should be in a different home with a family that has a lot more time for ME! We used to be able to do lots of things together like hiking and running and camping. And I love playing fetch. But now they are just so busy with two babies that they don’t have much time for me anymore. I know my mom feels pretty sad about that but young babies are their life now. She knows I need people to love me and, especially, who will have lots of time for me.

 

I know lots of commands and am leash trained and crate trained but I am not trained to hunt.

Of course, I am housetrained and stand by the door when I need to go outside. And I am also trained on an e-collar so I can do lots of running without my owners worrying that I won’t come back. But because we haven’t done a lot of running lately, I will probably need a brush up on using the collar. Although I would love daily runs and really look forward to any exercise, I also love to sunbathe!

 

Although I certainly am an energetic  boy, I am not a wild GSP with crazy energy. I love being with my people and my mom says I am good with almost anyone and that includes the children. Sometimes I can be a little skittish when I first meet some people (sometimes men) but after a little while I warm up.I haven’t spent a lot of time with other dogs but I’m fine when I have the chance to be with them and, in fact, am sometimes kind of reserved. But when people raise their voices, I do become submissive. When in a new environment or if I’m left all by myself outside or if I’m left out of family activities, I’m not destructive but I do whine since I want to be with my people. Because of the two babies, though, I am often separated from my family. When they are gone, I stay in the laundry room and that’s where I sleep, too. Some days I spend much more time in there than I would like. I just really wish I could have more attention than my family has time for now.

 

My mom and dad say that I am a really happy, loyal boy and am very gentle, as well. I’m very affectionate and love to have my head in someone’s lap. And as I mentioned earlier, I’m very kid friendly. Since I’m energetic, I love a good adventure and I’m really smart, too!
