DODGER
These are the most important things my new family needs to know about me:
1. I love spending lots of time outside when I’m at home but I do need a 6 foot fence.
2. I also love playing with other dogs.
3. I’m good with children, even toddlers.
4. I want to spend a lot of time with my owner. I won’t be OK by myself for more than a couple of hours. I’m OK being crated during the day but not for longer than 2 hours.

Hello, my name is Dodger and I am 1-½ years old. I came to Mile High GSP Rescue in September. The rescue I came from said I am a GSP and Labrador Retriever mix. Foster Mom and Dad think I might have a little Chow Chow because I have a black mouth and a curly tail (but I sure don’t look like one of those!) and a little Hound Dog because my bark sounds like one.
I came to the rescue with a few hang ups because of things that happened earlier in my life but with discovering that things don’t have to be that way I have made great recovery. I fought over food, until I figured out that there was plenty to go around. I didn’t like to kennel, until I figured out that now it’s only for a short amount of time and certainly not every day. Like many GSPs, I do have a bit of separation anxiety loose in the house when I’m alone for more than an hour. But I am pretty good in a crate as long as it’s for no more than 2 hours. When I arrived at Mile High GSP I was taking a good dose of medication for my anxiety but Foster Mom and Dad really don’t think I need it and are weaning me off of it and things are going well! Hopefully, I won’t be taking it for much longer. They expect me to be done with it very soon.
I would do great in a family with other dogs or I might be OK as an only dog. I would like to be the dog in charge but if another dog wants to be I can let them. I like to take walks and am well behaved on a leash. I like kids and am good around any age children, including toddlers. I really do need to have a backyard with a 6 foot fence where I can play and play because I am a great jumper. The thing I need MOST is someone to be around all day or who could take me with them if they leave. So I need someone who could promise not to leave me in a kennel for extended periods of time. I would really like a place to call my home forever.
