Dulce – Adopted
Hi there! My name is Dulce, a purebred GSP, and I really would love to find my perfect family. I’ve been living with my foster family for a few months, and they will tell you I am a very sweet and loving girl. As you can see in my photos, I have that classic GSP profile, and I love being active. I am a 3–ishyear-old spayed female with all my shots and a brand-new microchip. I am in great shape, 57 pounds, and very fit. My fosters will tell you I am house-trained and am working on crate training, which is going well and, in fact, I love to sleep in my kennel! I listen well and am a quick learner of basic commands though I can be stubborn at times. Most of the time I’m food motivated and will listen better when treats are involved. I’m a typical GSP, I’m told – curious about everything, I’m certainly active, and a very happy dog.
I am doing very well with recall and get along great with my foster brother, another GSP. I love running at the dog park and playing chase with the other dogs. I’m not a huge fan of playing fetch butunderstand the concept and will participate if it means other dogs will play chase. My foster dad is my favorite person and I really like working from home with him often napping most of the day in his office. I really love to meet new people, especially kids!
I was found as a stray in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the animal welfare folks gave me my new name because I am such a sweet girl. I stayed with them for three weeks until Mile High GSP brought me to Denver. Like all GSPs, I can be a bit stubborn, but treats, attention, and plenty of encouragement work great. My foster parents are working to teach me to “wait” and I am doing better as I am a very quick learner.
I am prey driven, spending a lot of time watching squirrels, bunnies, and birds out the window. I would do best in a house without small animals like cats but love other dogs. I love to cuddle and am allowed up on the furniture. I’m not even concerned with vacuums, sirens, or thunderstorms, so have at it, I’ll be just fine.
I love to give kisses and to put my head between your legs while you pet my head and rub my ears, my foster parents call it “docking” and I love to dockto recharge or feel safe. I eat well and am fairly food motivated. I let my foster mom trim my nails after some patience, love, and treats. I’m skeptical of baths, but let my foster mom bathe me without any issues. I’m starting to play with a ball and will retrieve it. I need a fenced yard and someone to take me on more adventures. I will need someone who hikes or will take me to a big open space or dog park to run. A small backyard just isn’t enough for my energy level. Most importantly, I love my foster family! I do have some separation anxiety, but I have been able to be left alone for short periods of time with my foster sibling. I don’t like to be left in a kennel and do best being left free in the house.
I will need someone who works from home or is retired because I will love you that much! I know I could fit in well with a new family who can give me the attention and love to feel right at home. There are sooo many good things about me that the only way to find out how wonderful I am is to meet me. I would love to meet you, soon!
Love, Dulce
