Eleanor – ADOPTED!

I’m Eleanor and I am a fairly small purebred GSP, about 4 years old. And, as you can see, I am black! My owner has been realizing what an active dog I would like to be but her life has gotten very busy with several children and other demands. She knows I am not getting the exercise and attention that I need and want so she wants me to have a home and family that has a different lifestyle and lots and lots of time to spend with me.

I have had some formal obedience training on sit, stay, come, down and off but because she is so busy, she hasn’t been able to find the time to keep refreshing my memory about those commands so she feels I need some additional practice them. Although I was crate trained, I haven’t used a crate for about 2 years. I am house broken but if I’m left inside too long, I could have an accident. If you are around, I’ll let you know that I need to go outside by pawing at the door or nudging you with my nose. I’m pretty dog friendly but I might be better with males. My mom says I am an Alpha dog but I’m not aggressive. I haven’t been around cats but my guess is that I would want to hunt them!
I love being with my people and wish I could have more of their attention but I know how busy they are. So, I find ways to entertain myself. If given an opportunity, I’m pretty sure I would bolt out a front door if the door were open. I do love an adventure!
Sometimes I watch critters out the window and quiver, almost shaking with excitement. The hunting instinct is certainly part of me! So, it would be a good idea for me to have a safe space outside with a fence so I wouldn’t scale it to go after rabbits or other creatures I would consider prey. I spend a lot of time inside, especially in the winter months because I don’t really like being in the cold and, especially, in the snow. During the day when my people are gone, I am loose in the house. At night I sleep on my own bed or sometimes on my mom’s chair.

I am definitely a playful pup and especially love it when my mom blows bubbles at me. I also love to chew on antlers to entertain myself and throw toys into the air to catch. If you were to ask my mom to describe me, she would tell you that, in addition to being a playful girl, I am friendly and happy and, especially, I am very affectionate. I love being loved on by my people and love to love them right back! You can probably tell by what you’ve already read about me that I am also an adventurous pup and would probably love hiking and exploring the outdoors with my person or family. I would really love to be able to get lots of time for running and exploring which my family doesn’t have much time to do with me now but I would need some brush-up on my commands, especially recall so I would always be safe during outdoor exploring. A training collar might be just the thing for me and being gently trained on one would give me attention from my owner that I would love!
