Ember – Adopted

My name is EMBER and I am a very petite, 4-year-old purebred GSP. I am with a daddy who loves me so much but he is such a busy man, on the road a lot. In addition, he has had to move from a large house with property to an apartment which isn’t a very good space for me.
I am a well-trained little girl, including crate-trained, and, of course, I am house-broken so I will come to you letting you know that I need to go outside. And I know all my major commands including heeling while walking as well as heeling and then standing next you. And I am leash trained. I also know the command “hug!” When my dad has to be gone, most of the time he lets me have free roam of the house with the exception of the bedroom and bathroom. And he allows me to be on the furniture when given permission so couch or maybe in my crate but I’m not allowed on his bed. Darn, I sure would so love to be able to sleep with him. Periodically, he crates me for a couple of hours just so I am OK being there in case I have to be sometime.
I am good with other dogs and like being with them. I have had two incidents with dogs who attacked me when my dad and I were out walking, though. That scared me so I can be a bit afraid and cautious sometimes with dogs I don’t know. But I am still a really friendly, playful pup and am easy-going with almost all dogs, neither submissive nor dominant. My dad calls me a “flex” dog because I can adjust to whatever dog I’m playing with. Even though I’m really good with other dogs, playing is not what I love the most. If I’m outdoors, I really prefer hiking and running and smelling EVERYTHING there is to explore. And running with my dad is one of my very favorite things!
I love being with people, including toddlers and older children. But I especially love being with my dad. In fact, I want his attention and affection most of the time. He has a lot of work to do and is a much more independent being than I am so I’m afraid I want more attention than he can give to me. My dad loves me dearly telling people that I am so good-natured, loyal, calm, very attentive and intelligent. And I am happy to tag along with him anywhere. But he also feels that I would be a happier dog if I were in a family with more than one person who could give me the attention and affection that I crave.
