Earl – ADOPTED!

I’m Earl, around 5 years old and a purebred GSP. I have found myself in a pretty unfortunate situation. My family took me to a grooming/boarding facility for a few days and they never returned to pick me up. The facility tried to reach them but they never heard back from them. My family just left me. That was in September. Finally, someone who works at the facility got in touch with MHGSP Rescue to see if they could help to find me a new home. Being in a grooming/boarding facility is not a life for me, especially because I almost never get any exercise.

I was attacked by a male Akita at the boarding facility so I distrust male dogs. I’ve been OK with female dogs though. In addition, while at the shelter I was diagnosed with prostatitis which isn’t uncommon in males who are intact. And I am not neutered . . .yet.  Prostatitis is quite painful. Not being neutered and being in pain has clearly affected my behavior around male dogs. In addition I’m not getting any quality time from humans (although I really like being with people) and I’m not getting any exercise.

I am coming to the rescue very soon because they know I’ve been in pain and need to be neutered. But they’ve also learned I love being with people. I am affectionate and really want to finally be with someone who wants to make me an important part of his or her family. I love to play ball and fetch and want to have lots of time to run and get the kind of exercise that GSPs need. Most of all, I really need a family who loves GSPs, who will help me feel loved and will give me the exercise I need.
