George – Adopted!
Hi! My name is George. I am a 9-month-old purebred GSP. When I was 4 months old I broke my leg and that’s when I hooked up with Mile High GSP Rescue. My foster brother and I have so much fun playing and goofing around all day so I’ve learned that having a canine buddy is crucial for me. And I love all the toys you can give me! I like chew toys but they don’t stand a very good chance with me and squeaky toys sure are a lot of fun, too. Going to the dog park everyday is especially fun because we get to run and play with lots of dogs. In the middle of the pack is where you’ll find me. I am a super nice dog and get along really well with other dogs, big and small, and I really like all the kids I’ve met at the dog park.
My foster mom knows life goes much more smoothly when she takes us out for vigorous exercise every day. I’ve never met any cats so I’m not sure how I would be with one of those. But since I’m a pointer you might not want to trust me with a cat. I especially love spending time with my humans! I have an ear fetish – give me an inch – and I’ll nuzzle your ear! After my rambunctiousness is exercised out of me I love to snuggle. With that said, I periodically appreciate my space, as long as you’re close by.
I am trained to walk on a leash, but do need some reminders here and there not to pull. The more times I get to practice, the better I’ve been doing. In big, wide, open spaces, an E-collar is definitely a good idea. I am also house and crate trained though I definitely prefer sleeping on my dog bed. I did well in my kindergarten obedience class and feel really ready to learn everything you can teach me. Although I’m not too keen about bird hunting yet, with some professional training, I think I could get really good at it. On my first real hunt trip I wasn’t too sure what we were doing out there. But it was a great time being out hunting – I loved the cold weather and running with all my buddies. Even if I don’t become a bird hunter, I will make a great family pet as long as I have a dog buddy to play with and you give me a lot of affection and the very active exercise that I need every day.
