Gunner – ADOPTED!
Hi, there! I‘m Gunner, a 5-year-old purebred GSP.
Most important requirements for my adoption:
* No other male dog in the family, especially an un-neutered male
* A family member who wants to hunt with me
* A family who will give me plenty of exercise every day
* Living indoors with my family
Read on for more details . . .
I’ve been with my family since I was only 8 weeks old and have been given some good training. I respond to sit, stay, come, down and off. I’m not great walking on a leash because I have so much energy so I would need some work on that. I am also crate trained and, of course, I’m housebroken so I never have accidents in the house. When I need to go outside, I just go stand by the door to let my mom or dad know that I need to go out. I also have had hunt training so I want to be able to hunt with my new family.
During the day when my family is gone I spend my day in an outside dog run but I know I would like being inside even more. I do sleep inside at night, though. I wouldn’t do well with a cat in my new home, especially because I’m pretty prey driven. Also, I won’t do well with another male dog in my new family. I now live with a 3-year-old male GSP and we have dominance issues. It seems like he might want to be the dominant dog now that he is getting older. I don’t like that so I’m becoming aggressive toward him. I might be just fine with a female dog as long as she doesn’t boss me around all the time.
My mom and dad tell everyone what a sweetheart I am with people. Like most GSPs, I’m very energetic and need a family who will give me a lot of exercise. I‘m very affectionate and gentle, too, but because of my exuberance a family with very small children would have to be very careful and vigilant.. I’m such a friendly boy, happy and playful and ready to have an adventure. I love life and, of course, I love to hunt!
