6. I will need a safe backyard since I can jump a fence if unattended.

Hi! I am Jamo (Jamison is my full name) and I’m a 3-year-old purebred GSP, as you can probably tell. I am obedience trained, knowing sit, stay, come, down, off, heel and whoa although I may need a bit of refresher training. I have also had hunt training and have hunted several times. I am leash-trained and crate-trained but I really don’t like having to be in a crate at all so I rarely am in one. And I am also house-trained . . . no accidents in the house.

My brother and I lived together with my dad for almost three years but because
he was food aggressive, we did have some issues and my dad had to find a new home for him. As a result, I am unsure of some dogs especially at dog parks so we just don’t go there.
I get along with some dogs but I would be better suited for a family that has no other dogs. Since I am hunt-trained it would be best for there to be no cats in my new family. I’m like a lot of GSPs. My prey drive is probably too strong to live with cats. But I am a friendly, happy GSP and I love to play and seek out adventures. One thing I love to do is play fetch. I could do that forever! And like almost all GSPs, I love to run and am a good running buddy for my dad. Because of my sense of adventure, I will need a fence that will keep me safe. I can jump a fence if left unattended so I will probably need a 6 ft privacy fence.

I am also an affectionate boy. I love everyone (although I haven’t been with children) and want to be with people, but especially my dad, as much as I can. I am not at all aggressive with people. My dad has worked from home for much of the pandemic so I am loose in the house at all times. He lets me sleep wherever I want to in the house, sometimes downstairs on my bed or upstairs in his room. And I am such a great cuddler!

My dad thinks my very best new home would be one where I would be the only pup and my owner would be at home most of the time. I won’t be happy home alone for much of the day. I also need a mom or dad who will exercise me off leash and let me run with her or him sometimes. And because I’m very affectionate, I will need someone who will show me a lot of love and will want to cuddle with me. I just love to be loved!
