Kimber – ADOPTED!
What I most need in my new home:
1) Another playful dog
2) Time for snuggling on a couch
3) A family who is willing to continue to train me
Hi, my name is Kimber and, as you can see, I am a GSP mix (my other half is probably Lab).
I’m a six-year-old, VERY playful and happy pup. My Foster Dad (FD) has let the rescue know that in my new home I will need another dog with lots of energy and who wants to play. I love to play fetch and retrieve in the backyard and, of course, play with my foster brother. But I also like to play on my own with a ball, batting it back and forth with my front paws so if anyone starts a canine soccer team, I will be first in line to try out!
I am not housebroken yet and my foster dad is working with me on my basic commands, too. But I am crate trained so I usually go into my crate when my dad leaves the house. But recently I have been out in the house with my foster brother when my FD has been gone for up to 4 hours. We did great together. No problems, nothing chewed, nothing broken! I used to sleep in my crate at night but now I sleep on a dog bed at night with no issue. I do like to chew on toys but I haven’t gone after any clothes or other personal possessions or a couch. I do like squeaky sounds so I will rip the squeaker out of a stuffed toy in less than 5 minutes. I am not possessive of toys but I did growl/snap when my foster brother tried to eat out of my bowl so FD just feeds us in separate rooms. But when he gives my foster brother a treat in front of me, I don’t snap because I get a treat, too!
Once we have played and played outside, I love to snuggle up on the couch. So even though I love to play, I also like my quiet times. When describing me, some of the first things my FD will tell you is that I have a super sweet disposition and that I get along great with his young GSP. The only time I was snappy was when my foster brother wanted to eat from my bowl.
I will need some more work on being housebroken and learning some commands, but I will be a very willing pup. What matters most to me is to have another dog who will want to play with and people who will be loving and want to spend lots of time with me.
