Lola – ADOPTED!
1) My obedience training/behavior is exceptional.
2) I am not comfortable around rambunctious, overly assertive dogs.
3) My new family should not have small/young children.
4) I’m a very happy, friendly, playful, affectionate pup.

I’m Lola, a 7-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer (I’ll be 8 in January). I have had extensive, formal obedience training for several years and I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen. I passed Sit Means Sit therapy dog training, too. I know a lot of commands in addition to the typical ones. I’m really good with wait, place, look at me, front, back, left, right, break, leave it and even more! I’m also leash trained, not pulling on the leash and am e-collar trained, too. We do trail runs and hiking as a family and I am so good. Although I love to explore, I always stay on the trail and come back and check in on my own. I am crate trained and, of course, I’m house broken. Unfortunately, I do sometimes chew soft things, but you can fix that by not having socks, dog towels, and plush toys within my reach.
My family feels like I would be much happier in another loving home because I am having dominance issues with my littermate sister. From what we’ve been told, it is not unusual for female littler-mates to be aggressive with one another as they mature. Although I am mostly a submissive dog, I am not with my sister. But she is so rambunctious sometimes. When I’m in training classes, though, I am very well behaved around other dogs. I am a rules girl, liking to have structure so I am uncomfortable with dogs who are in my face and not under control. In the past I have sometimes been reactive with other pups if they were overly assertive or too rambunctious. I guess you could call me kind of an introvert, preferring dogs who are respectful of my space. Even though I’m OK with dogs who are well behaved and under control, it would be fine for me to be an only dog. I think I would be pretty happy as long as I could get lots and lots of attention and cuddling. I could be your blanket if you would let me!
In addition to being playful and happy and very well behaved, my mom and dad describe me as a very gentle and loving dog. Because I am sometimes aggressive toward my sister, I have to wear a muzzle when we are together and I don’t like it. Mom says I’m getting a little depressed in this very stressful situation. They hope a new family will want to embrace me and give me a new chance to be the happy dog that I would be in a very different environment.
