Lou – ADOPTED!
Hey there! I’m Lou, a 1-1/2 year-old, purebred GSP, and if you ever want to go run around outside, you just let me know. I am ALWAYS in the mood for doing something active. So you think you’re tough because you like to go on long hikes in the mountains? Cool story bro, I do that kind of stuff in my sleep.
I was picked up by MHGSP Rescue from a shelter in Aztec, NM and I was a little skinny at the time, even for a GSP. I’ve since packed on a few pounds of muscle and a metric ton of confidence. I’m in the early stages of learning how to be a fetch dog and I love bringing the ball back to you and receiving praise. I like bringing all sorts of stuff to my foster dad: half chewed raw hides, his socks, fabric softener sheets, etc. I just like bringing him random gifts to show my appreciation, even though he doesn’t always seem to appreciate where I got them, just for him.
I do have a very strong prey drive, and will squat for hours waiting for the squirrels balancing on the power lines above my backyard to make that one, fateful mistake I’ve been hoping for. I am absolutely not a good pup for a house with cats, rabbits, or other delicious . . . er, small pets.
I also don’t appear to have spent much time inside of a house before the rescue picked me up, and I get in the way of my foster dad when he’s walking around just because I don’t have the routine down yet. I might not be the best dog for a home with small children because of this. I wouldn’t mean to but since I am still a very young dog I get pretty excited and whip around walls and corners like a madman sometimes.
I didn’t like being crated at first, and am still getting used to it, but I do seem to understand that my foster dad wants me to calm down and I accept that he needs me to go in there. I really, really want to find a home and please my owner. Even though I make mistakes sometimes it’s only because I didn’t know the rules and I feel really guilty when I’m told about it. I just want to make someone as happy and full of life as I am!
