Luca – Adopted
I’m LUCA! And I was found in a box. Really. I’m a 13–14-week-old male GSP. The rescue thinks I’m probably a purebred puppy but it’s possible that there is a little bit of some other breed in my make-up. It’s hard to tell because I am so young. Although I am now in TX, I was actually found in Washington (state) which is where my mom found me in a box as a tiny puppy. I was so lucky that she scooped me up and took me with her so I actually learned about what a home is. She was moving to TX and, thankfully, she took me with her. Right now, I weigh only 17 lbs. but, of course, I will become a full grown GSP within another year.
My mom has taught me a few commands and I am learning about leash-training, too. I’m working on being housetrained and I bark and walk to the door when I need to go but I don’t always make it in time. Of course, I display a lot of puppy behaviors: playful, dependent, adventurous, affectionate, and sooo happy. Of course, I AM a puppy. And I do jump up and. naturally, I do chew. But remember, I am only 13 weeks old. I still keep and sleep with my baby bear that I was found with.
My mom loves talking about me but that’s what good mommas do. She says that I do need a lot of attention and lots of exercise (as appropriate for my young age) and she knows that I won’t be in the chewing stage forever. But she says I am also very lovingand I respond well to training, learning patterns very easily. I also have great recall for a puppy my age.
I will need a family that has someone who can be around for most of the day because I’m still needing help with potty training and this is such an important time for my mom/dad and me to form a strong bond. If someone is gone much of the day, that will not be the right family or situation for me. I need a family who lives in Colorado and has at least one other mature dog in their family. As a puppy, I have a lot to learn and an older dog (especially a female) would be a wonderful mentor/momma dog for me.
