Lucy – Adopted!
My name is Lucy and I am a female purebred GSP around 3-years-old. I came into the rescue as a stray from Kansas and am loving my new foster home in Colorado. I am much more than just a pretty face–I’m crate trained, housebroken, and know basic commands such as sit, off, here and no. And I’m whistle trained, too! My foster mom says I must be the happiest GSP on the planet because my tail is always wagging! My favorite things to do are to go for long walks and runs, (I’m really good on a Haltie) spend time outside exploring and chasing squirrels in the yard, and boy do I love to play with toys! Those Kong things with the treats inside are absolutely amazing! I’m not always the best at playing fetch, but I do love to have a toy or a bone to chew on and to keep me busy. And when the truck door opens I know we are going on an adventure so I hop right in!!
I currently live in a home with 2 other GSP’s and we get along, but I will take their toys sometimes if they aren’t paying attention and will even try to grab a bite from their food bowls (that doesn’t usually end well). I am a very independent girl and would probably do best with a family as an only dog, as long as I receive the daily exercise and attention that I need and thrive on. I am curious about everything and absolutely love to be around my foster mom and dad doing whatever they are doing and being included in their activities. When we are out and about and meeting new people with other dogs and kids, I do just fine. At the end of the day I curl up and sleep through the night. I am whistle and e-collar trained and am still adjusting to my new name but am doing very well responding to it.
When my foster mom is cooking up dinner, I love to be in the kitchen to watch and sometimes I can be curious and will try to counter surf to check things out. I am kind of a light eater sometimes and am getting used to set morning and evening dinner times. My foster family thinks I may have been an only dog previously with access to my food bowl all the time, because I am not always interested in my food when it is offered. There are too many other things to do besides eat!!
My foster dad thinks I must have been exposed to field hunting because I point and creep on birds and rabbits (and even some fences if I hear noise behind it) while out exploring my new surroundings. Honestly, when I’m on point my tail goes straight out and it’s quite the wonder to behold. He’s going to take me out soon to the hunt field to see how I do.
I am a sweet, playful, energetic girl with a lot of affection and love to give when I find my forever home!
