Lucy ADOPTED!
Hi, my name is Lucy, and I’m a 4-year-old purebred GSP. I currently live with my foster mom and her two male GSPs.
Most important for me in my new home/family:
1. You’d be amazed at my agility and jumping skills so a secure 6-foot privacy fence is needed
2. I’m full of life and energy so having an active family who will give me regular, vigorous exercise is important
3. Having a family who will continue to train me and work with me, especially my recall will be vital
4. Although I thoroughly enjoy playing with other dogs, I may enjoy a home where I am the only dog. You can read more below.
5. If you want a dog to take to breweries, outside patios, car rides in to the mountain, etc. I am your girl. I love going on adventures with my people.
There are more details below. Please keep reading if you want more information about me.
I am currently living with my foster mom and her two male GSPs. I am truly a sweetheart with good intentions and love of life! I’m very athletic and sometimes don’t even know my own strength.
I was an only child at my previous home but over the past months I have been learning how to share my humans and things with other dogs. I prefer to eat in my kennel as I do not like to share food, treats, or have other animals sniffing around my food. If you have other dogs, keep in mind that I will continue requiring supervision and training as I continue to learn how to share.
Although I am very food motivated, it does bode well for training and that my foster mom taught me to lie down and stay within the first couple weeks – as long as I knew a treat was at the end of the command.
One of the things I love is to play all day. I love to run around and play with other dogs especially if there is water nearby for me to jump in! I also really like running with my foster mom while she is training for races and relays. I walk with a harness and pull a little, especially when trying to keep up with my foster brothers but I do a good job walking on my own or when my foster parents tell me to heel. Im a great hiker and am not even afraid of bikes if you like to bike, especially in the mountains.
Like most GSP’s I have tons of energy and require daily exercise, but I also enjoy sunbathing on a patio and cuddling on the couch. I will curl up in your lap as soon as you sit down. If you don’t want me on your lap, I am content just to lie near you on my doggie bed. I’m really a great mixture of entertaining myself and spending time with my people and siblings.
At night, I enjoy sleeping on my plush doggie bed, but sometimes I’ll sleep on the couch in the living room with my foster brother or in my kennel with the door open. Plus, I will wake you up every morning with a jump on your bed, my little wiggle butt, and if I’m lucky I’ll find a stray sock from the night before, but I’ll drop your sock as soon as you say “drop”. I just think it’s fun to wake up my foster parents with a triumphant sock slew.
I am well crate trained and often run into an open crate and curl right up when I know my mom is getting ready to leave, watching TV, or feel like I need some downtime. My kennel is my happy place and safe zone, plus I get fed in my kennel so it’s the best!
During the day I can stay at home, as I love having a doggie door in to the back yard. I am very well behaved when left alone – no chewing or accidents, and I only grab toys from my puppy box. Sometimes I don’t like to share my puppy toys but my foster mom is helping me to learn to do so better.
I am a GSP so I am very prey driven and I have never lived with cats so I don’t know how I would do with a cat brother or sister. I’ve met multiple children and do well with them. Loud noises and kids don’t seem to bother me but I am an energetic GSP so young children may not be the best match. But I’d love to meet your family and see if we can be forever family members, together!
