Maggie – ADOPTED!
I’m Maggie, a 2-year-old German Wire-haired Pointer (or possibly a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon?), with LOTS of energy! I am housetrained as well as crate trained but I’m fine loose in the house when my foster mom is gone for a few hours. I’m OK on a leash and even better using a harness. I know some commands like sit and lie down and I’m getting better at stay. But I’m pretty food motivated so I’ll do well with more training. After all, I am still pretty much a puppy.
The rescue says that I‘m a real wiggler and, I admit, it’s hard for me to be still unless I’ve had lots of daily exercise and playtime with a young dog who can keep up with me. And even then, I still love to be nibbling, playing, and jumping. I also have a strong prey drive (of course. . . . I’m a Pointer) so I will need a family who has a home with a 6 ft. secure privacy fence. Because of my energy level, it will be important for me to get daily vigorous exercise like an off-leash run or a hike so that means I will need to be trained on an e-collar (training collar). If you’ve ever had a GWP or GSP, I know you understand that! Playing with other pups almost non-stop is so much fun but I’m very affectionate so I love spending time with my people too.
I have just arrived in the rescue so check the website again in a couple of weeks for some updates. (October 7, 2018)
