Mars – ADOPTED
Most important things for my new family to know about me:
1) I want a family who will want to spend a lot of time with me.
2) I really enjoy being with other playful dogs.
3) I love being able to frequently go outside to play in my safe backyard.
4) I love giving and getting lots of affection.
5) I know many obedience commands.
6) Sometimes thunderstorms frighten me.
Hi, there! As you know, I am Mars (isn’t my name cool?) and I am a 3-1/2- year-old GSP mix. Actually, I look exactly like a GSP but there is something else in my breeding as well. My mom and the rescue know that because of the tan in my coat. But I sure look like and act just like a GSP. I know quite a few commands and my temperament is pretty mellow in the house but that doesn’t mean that I’m not energetic outdoors. Playing outside is one of my very favorite things.
I am crate-trained and house broken so if I need to go outside, I cry or scratch at the door. When it is bedtime, I sometimes sleep in my crate but mom also lets me sleep on the couch and I love that!
Because my mom’s work schedule has become much more hectic, she thinks I would be much happier with a family who has a lot of time to spend with me, something she doesn’t have any more. Also, she has moved to a new place that doesn’t have a fence and she knows how much I love having freedom to be outside in my yard. Because I really like to play tag and tug of war, I would love to have another playful dog in my new family so we could run and chase each other. And I would also really like to have freedom to run on trails and in fields with my new family. I might need some training to be able to run off leash but I know I would love it!
I’m a very loyal, gentle and affectionate boy. But I like to have some independent time too. When my mom is gone, I am free in the house. But I don’t like being at home for more than just a few hours without someone being there with me. Sometimes I’m afraid of thunder so maybe if I had another dog in my family, I wouldn’t be fearful.
I’m great with all dogs and love playing with them. I have never shown aggression with other dogs; in fact, I’m actually a little submissive. And I’m good with cats, too! Because I’m so friendly and happy, I love being with dogs AND, of course, with people, especially my mom. I’m very affectionate and feel so good just being with her.
I hope my new family will have another pup and a big, safe yard for us to play in. And I would love to be trained to run on trails and in fields with my family. Most of all, I hope my new family will want to spend a lot of time with me giving me the affection that makes me so happy because I will want to give them a lot of love, too.
