MAX – ADOPTED!
I am MAX, and I am pretty desperate for a new home and family. I’m a 12-year-old purebred GSP. My owner recently died and for the last couple of years of my life he did not take very good care of me. I know he loved me but I was neglected, given very little attention, and was not fed well or consistently, but he was my owner and I loved him, too. Even though I’m a little on the skinny side, I still have a lot of energy and, since I’ve been hunt-trained, would probably still like to hunt periodically although I would probably need some brush-up training. More than anything, I would like an owner/family that I can spend hours and hours with. I love being with people (and I mean LOVE) and I’m great with other dogs, too. I think I would be fine with children although maybe not really young ones. No cats or chickens, though. I am a GSP, right?! I’m house trained but not crate-trained but I don’t do any damage in the house. In fact, my dad used to take me to a hotel where he stayed for a week and I was just fine other than he wasn’t able to pay much attention to me.
Soon after my dad died, his friends came to my rescue. Someone agreed to take care of me for a little while but she didn’t know the energy of my breed. She took me to work one day and I was really scared of all the noise so she has decided she can’t keep me any more. She also told one of his friends that I am clearly very confused, sad, and lonely. She suggested that if they can’t find another place for me quickly, she would probably take me to “the pound.”
All I really want is someone who loves my breed and understands that I need exercise, someone who will want to spend lots and lots of time with me and not leave me alone for hours each day, and who will love me, even though I am 12 -years-old. If you could be my very own new person or family, please contact the rescue as soon as possible. I just don’t want to go to “the pound” because I’m so afraid of what they might do to me.
