Max -Adopted

I’m MAX, a 6-year-old, purebred GSP. I was supposed to come to the rescue with my housemate, Maggie, but she got adopted right before we left the Utah shelter to come to Colorado. I am in my foster home now and I love it! My foster dad says that I have settled nicely into a routine after only 4 days. I love lying on my dog bed in the living room especially when my family is watching a movie. And the best issnuggling with my foster family. I know my commands well: sit, stay, come, leave it, down/off and am working on a wait command before I eat. I do pull hard when going on a walk but we’re working on that. I am food and prey motivated but also usually respond to a whistle or when I’m called. At night I sleep on another dog bed at the foot of my foster dad and mom’s bed.
I get daily walks with my dad but I’m a very energetic boy so I like going to the dog park where I can get lots of exercise. When I’m there with a lot of other dogs I mostly want to sniff and socialize and I do stand my ground if I need to but I’m not aggressive. My foster dad says that I rather “tell the aggressor of my displeasure.” He says my behavior is just normal GSP behavior. I do need a large yard with a privacy fence so I can be safe but also so I can run and do zoomies to get rid of some of my energy. But I know I would probably love running in fields or on trails even moreand since my recall is good, I’m hoping I can do that with my new family.
I’ve been in the rescue for almost a week and I am really adjusting well. My foster family has owned or fostered GSPs before me and told the rescue, “Max is awesome!”
