Mila (Ayra) – ADOPTED!
I’m Mila, a 6-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer and these are the most important things that I need in my new home and family:
1) I need a lot of exercise and playtime . . .
2) and lots and lots of space for running.
3) I need to be the only dog in my new home.
4) I need someone who will give me a lot of attention. affection and love. I love cuddling!
Please keep reading if you would like more details about me.
My original name is Ayra but my foster mom had a hard time pronouncing it so she is calling me Mila for now. My dad felt is was best for me to have a new home because I have so much energy and he was having a hard time keeping up with me. He also realized how much I love playing with other dogs and since he didn’t have a dog buddy for me, he wanted me to have a home that could provide that. And he’s right: I do love playing and running with other dogs. I especially like tug with another pup and I also like just hanging out with other dogs. But in being fostered with other dogs, I also realize that I probably shouldn’t actually live with another dog because I start thinking that I’m the alpha and I just get way too bossy! Because of my strong prey drive, I should not live a kitty, either. Although I love playing with other dogs, I can also be happy chewing on a bone by myself. And one of my most favorite things is snuggling up on a couch with my foster mom.
I know basic commands like sit, come, up, off, and kennel up (especially when you have treats available!). I’m not great walking on a leash but I’m better when wearing a harness. I’m mostly house-trained but don’t have any accidents if I have access to a doggie door. When my foster mom leaves she doesn’t crate me so I’m free to roam the house and just sleep anywhere. And at night, I sleep on the foot of the bed or, best of all, right next to her.
Because I am so athletic and energetic, my perfect family would be one that has lots and lots of room for me to run and run and run. I have a very strong prey drive, loving to lunge and point at rabbits. I know I would like to have frequent opportunities to hike or run off leash but only when my new family reminds me about how important an e-collar is. My foster mom says I am extremely friendly and love being with people! I am a very loyal girl and, more than anything, I just want someone to snuggle up with and to love. Both my dad and my foster mom say I am super playful and so very lovable.
