Molly, a 2-1/2 year old purebred German Longhaired Pointer, came to us from Boulder Humane because she had been relinquished three times.
The two short-term adopters said she had too much energy and she was not good with other dogs, especially small dogs. She also has a weak elbow so the original owners who brought her to the U.S. from Denmark, said they could not keep her because who wouldn’t be able to be a working dog, i.e. a hunter. They are the ones who surrendered her to Boulder Humane which then adopted her out to two other homes and she was returned. We acquired her after the third owner surrender.
Deer Creek Animal Hospital saw Molly for her injured leg, did x-rays read by a radiologist. Dr. Cheney also commented on what a sweetheart she is. Her diagnosis was an injury or damage akin to tennis elbow. We have extensive temperament and medical records for her.
Al worked a lot with Molly’s temperament issues and discovered that, yes, she is extremely aggressive with small dogs but also that she is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog. She loves children and has eventually become good buddies with Al’s and Stephanie’s dogs, Sadie (GWP) and Roman (GSP). Stephanie fell in love with Molly which is the primary reason they wanted to keep her.
