Molly – ADOPTED!
Important things my new family needs to know about me:
I will need my family to be diligent about giving me 1-2 months more of jumping restrictions.
No cats or chickens in my new family!
I need a family who is physically active outdoors.
I need a 6-foot privacy fence in a yard that will allow plenty of exercise.
I need practice with obedience training.
I need a family who will give me lots of affection and snuggles.
Please keep reading for more details.
I’m MOLLY! I’m almost one year old and I am a purebred GSP, as you can probably tell.
I would do best in a very active family who can keep up with me! have more energy than you can even imagine! It’s challenging at the moment because even though I recently had surgery, my knee is feeling good, but the doctor says I am still not ready yet to be free for leaping and bounding. Usually with a toy in my mouth, I roam freely around my foster mom’s house, with the exception of the steep stairs going down to the basement. I’m also not allowed to jump onto or down from couches, beds, or the car. By far, the hardest thing I’m not allowed to do is play with my dog sister (who is also a busy GSP), nor with dogs in the dog park. It drives me crazy!! I was created for play! My long legs can’t wait to run 3-minute miles around the dog park! But for another month, possibly two, I need to stay on a leash when I’m outside.
I am doing daily walks, up to 45 minutes now, and my foster mom has some trouble holding me back. She moves far too slowly in my opinion, so I pull hard and steady on the leash. This is something my new family will need to work on because I don’t pay much attention to no-pull harnesses or Gentle Leaders. My foster mom is working on my basic commands, and I do okay with “Come”, “Sit”, and “Stay”, but I still need more obedience training. I have great fun retrieving balls and apples and playing tug-of-war with another dog. My foster mom says I have a soft mouth when playing with apples, so with my strong prey drive and with training, I might also be a good hunter.
I adore my dog sister and watch everything she does so I can copy her. I also constantly try to play with her, but my foster mom keeps telling me, “Molly, no!” I assume that’s because I’m not supposed to be playing rambunctiously just yet, but I’m also hard on my sister. She gets tired (she’s 8) and wants to take her naps, but I don’t ever want to stop! My new family needs to have at least one young dog who wants to play as much as I do! More dogs in my family pack would be even better. I can’t tell you enough how much I love to play, and I do not get tired until bedtime!
You should know that my foster mom is going to be very sad when I leave for my new home, even though I want to eat her cats. She thinks I’m great fun, goofy and playful, humorous, and, of course, beautiful. I love my foster mom’s company and I follow her from room to room, unless I’m trying to get my dog sister to play. Play always takes precedence! I’m housebroken, and I sleep all night. I have several dog beds to choose from and have my own blanket. I sleep next to my foster mom’s bed but I’d really love to sleep on her bed! I don’t like to miss out on anything, and I want to be with people and other dogs all the time. If you’re going somewhere, take me with you! If you’re watching tv, I want to be super close to you! I don’t like to be inside if everyone is outsidee and I don’t like to be outside if everyone is inside. So if you want a super energetic family member, who loves to play, who loves to run at top speed nearly always, who is happy and bouncy morning until bedtime, who wants to be close to you, who’s beautiful and goofy at the same time ~ then I might be your sweet girl!
