Nellie – ADOPTED!
My must haves:
1) 1-2 other younger playful dogs
2) A very sturdy fence
3) Lots of room to run off leash and get exercise
4) Someone who will do daily exercise activities
with me
Hi! I’m Nellie, a 2.5 year old purebred GSP. I am a very typical young GSP, full of energy during the day and an absolute love bug at night. I arrived at Mile High GSP after being transported from Salt Lake City. I was surrendered by my previous owner after I had gotten out to go exploring and ended up being hit by a car and had to have my back leg amputated. Don’t worry, though, it still hasn’t slowed me down at all! I can still run like crazy and I love playing with other dogs. For being only 2.5 my foster parents say I am really well behaved. I am pretty good with sit, off, no, and come. Like any young GSP, I can be somewhat stubborn and sometimes distracted so I am really looking for a firm but loving leader who is willing to continue to teach me and reinforce what I have already learned.
My foster parents do not have children but think I would be ok with older children. I would want a home where there are other dogs young enough for me to play with. My foster parents have a cat and although I am very curious about her, I have done well around her so a family with a cat would be ok with me.
I am crate trained but I really prefer to stay out in the house with all the other dogs. I have been so good and haven’t gotten into in any trouble. At night, I sleep up on the bed with my foster parents or down on one of the dog beds. I’m so smart I picked up on the dog door at my foster parents house by just watching the other dogs in the house go in and out. I love being able to go in and out whenever I want. I do have a very strong prey drive (I could be on a rabbit all day long) so I will need a family that has a very sturdy fence, at lmore than 4ft in height around their yard.
I am doing great training off leash and I have a really good recall (even when chasing rabbits!) I’m not much of a “bolter” at all. I like to explore but never too far from my people and the other dogs.
I’m so excited to find my forever family so I can be loved and give all my love to them!!!
