Ranger – ADOPTED!
Most important things my new family needs to know about me:
1) I am a really energetic dog and need lots of exercise.
2) I need to be in a family without young children.
3) I love to retrieve my ball. OK, I’m kind of obsessed, especially at the dog park!
4) I’m very affectionate and love to cuddle.
5) I need a strong but gentle family leader. I bond especially well with men.
I’m Ranger, a male GSP and I’m almost 2 years old. Unfortunately, my current family needs to
find another family for me because they will be assuming some new responsibilities in their
home that would be difficult for me to adjust to. I am a good boy in the house and am house
broken so I don’t need to be crated. If my mom and dad need to leave the house for a little
while, I have free access to the living room and kitchen. But make sure you take things off the
counters because I have been known to cruise a counter or two. When I need to go outside, I
just stand by the door to the backyard and whine. It works! And I love being out there so I can
stalk squirrels and birds. I know basic commands like “sit,” “stay” and “off.” And I also know
“lay down” and “drop it.” Sometimes I’m a bit stubborn about giving up things I probably
shouldn’t have so it’s probably a good idea to put important things up or away from me. At
bedtime, I started out by sleeping with my mom and dad but then I discovered the spare
bedroom and now I love having my very own bed there.
I have a Vizsla sister and we play together but when I’ve gone to doggy daycare, even though I
do well there, I don’t play a lot with other dogs. I love going to the dog park but for only one
reason: retrieving my ball. I’m fine with the other dogs but I hardly pay attention to them. My
ball and I are there for non-stop action. I’m not feisty if another dog tries to get the ball, just
keen to get it back to take to my dad. I really do like the dog park . . . and my ball! I love being
outside but if we are just walking, I pull pretty hard on a leash.
My dad loves talking about me and says I am an adventurous, playful boy. I tend to be
independent but very tolerant around other dogs. I haven’t been around cats so that is an
unknown. But I do know that I’m affectionate and I love cuddling. Dad says I’m a very sweet boy
and a really wonderful dog.
