Sadie – ADOPTED!
The most important things my new family needs to know about me:
- I shouldn’t be in a family with very young children (under 6 years old).
- I love a lot of time with my family, especially for cuddling!
- I don’t love being left alone for very long.
- I love my outdoor, off-leash exercise.
Please keep reading for more details about me.
So, I’m Sadie, a 4-year-old purebred GSP. I’ve only been in Colorado for a couple of months and my family realizes that I need more room at my current home than I now have. When we lived in Georgia, we had a lot more yard room for me which I definitely need. Also, my family is just about to have another baby and they already have a a one-year-old. Too much really young energy for me. I am house-trained and crate-trained and I know and respond to basic commands. I have free run of the house when my family is home (I actually love spending time on the couch) which is most of the time right now but when they are away from the house, they usually crate me. I don’t like being left alone because I am a typical Velcro GSP, lonely for my family if they aren’t around. A lot of us are like that. At night, I sleep on a dog bed or on the couch so I would really like it if my new family allows their dogs on furniture.
I love being with my family except for the one-year-old who is just too much in my space. But I am very tolerant and great with children who are older and, of course, with adults. I especially love to snuggle under the covers and my mom says I am an “awesome cuddler.” And although I love to run and be very active outdoors, I am a calm pup in the house. I am tolerant of dogs I don’t know but I do like dogs that I am familiar with although I don’t love male dogs who constantly want to sniff my rear end. It’s just so annoying! Don’t worry, though; I just give them a little bark or run off when they do that. Unfortunately, like so many GSPs, I do love to find things on the kitchen counter that I’m not supposed to have. Yup, I’m a bit of a counter cruiser!
I want to be able to run off leash on hiking trails or in fields. For that reason, my dad has worked with me on a training/e-collar and I’m good at coming back. He wants to make sure that I get very active at least once a week with my new family. When my mom or dad describes me to other people, they say that I am an adventurous, happy and friendly little girl. And, as I mentioned before, I’m very affectionate and love lots of time with my mom and dad so I hope my new family will want to spend time cuddling with me, too!
