Sage – Adopted
Most important things for a new family to know about me:
Keep reading for more details about me.
I’m SAGE, an 8-month-old, purebred GSP. My family is needing to find a wonderful new home for me primarily because their young son seems to be allergic to me. Also, they know that I need a lot of exercise and their lives are just too busy to give me the opportunities to get the kind of exercise that I need. I know basic commands and I know how to wait to be given permission to eat. And I’m potty trained to whine when I need to go outside. And, of course, I am crate trained. I do still need a little work on leash training and I am not hunt trained.
In many way, I am a pretty typical GSP: I love spending time with my people. I am probably a little more alpha than submissive but I do like being with and playing with other dogs. However, I do chase cats so it would be best for me to be with a family who does not have cats. I have a lot of energy so my new family will need to give me frequent runs, off leash. My mom describes me as “spunky” but that will not be enough exercise for me. Walking on a leash will sometimes be OK but that will never be enough. I need to be able to run. Please don’t think of me as being happy just playing and running in the backyard.
I love being with people, especially if they want to play with me and if they are happy to get my kisses which I am happy to give freely! I do have a couple of habits that can be annoying: I do sometimes jump up on my people and I have also learned to counter surf.
But like most GSPs, I am a happy, playful and friendly pup. I love an adventure so being off leash is important to me. That will mean that I need to be trained to recall perfectly and that being trained with a training collar would be really helpful. I would love to have another young, [playful dog in my new family. I am a very affectionate pup (remember, I love giving kisses) and I really want snuggles to be an important part of my everyday life.
