Scout – Adopted

Hi there! I’m Scout and you can probably tell by my photos that I am a purebred GSP and I’m 1 year old. My mom is a really busy person and she has realized that she just can’t give me the attention that I need to be a really happy pup. That makes me pretty sad but sure would like and I know I need to have a home and family that has lots of time for me and can take me on lots of fun outdoor adventures.

I know my basic commands sit, stay and down and, of course, I’m housetrained. I just wait at the back door until mom lets me out. But I’m not crate trained so I am loose in the house when my mom or her roommate are at home. When no one is home, I have to be in a crate which I don’t like but mom comes home after a few hours so I do get a mid-day break from being by myself. When I’m alone, I do become pretty anxious and I chew things, like a pillow, that I know I shouldn’t. I just wish my mom or someone else could be with me, even another dog! In fact, having another dog to be with would be really awesome. I love so much being with other dogs and playing chase is one of my favorite things to do. A couple of days a week I get to go to doggy day care. We call it camp because it is so much fun. My mom doesn’t have a cat because if I see one, I want to play and that means chasing him or her. Most cats don’t love that.

Of course, I love spending time with my mom. We do the most amazing thing together when she has time. I love an adventure so she takes me on runs and I wear a training collar so she knows I will come back to her. And I really like going to the lake where I can swim. I love to be in the water! I also love going on hikes and camping. And around home, I like solving puzzles and sometimes playing fetch. Inside, I’m pretty energetic. At night, though, I love sleeping with my mom. I’m very affectionate and loveable so snuggle time is important to me. Although I enjoy being with most people, I can be timid like when I go to the vet and I’m pretty wary around children so I bark because I’m unsure of myself.

When people ask my mom to describe me in just a few words she says I am very playful, happy, friendly, affectionate and adventurous. But I also don’t like being left alone.
