Shelby – ADOPTED!
Hi! My name is Shelby and I am a 4-year-old purebred GSP. I have most of the typical GSP traits. I’m highly driven by my nose, I LOVE to snuggle, and I can get crazy spurts of energy. I’m a little timid sometimes because, after living with my owners for a few years, there are a lot of new things for me in my foster home and it’s a little overwhelming at times. My foster parents have a cat and I’m starting to do pretty well with her, so if you have a cat I just might be ok with him or her. I have not been around kids but because I’m so gentle I’m pretty sure I would get along great with them. I typically sleep on a dog bed in my foster parents’ room with the other dogs, but sometimes I ask really nice and my foster mom lets me in bed to snuggle with her (that’s the best!). I am kennel trained but because I’ve become such a good girl my foster parents have started letting me stay out and roam the house with the other dogs when they leave. I like having other dogs around so I don’t have to be by myself when my foster mom and dad aren’t home. Although I’m not really used to having a lot of toys, my favorites now are Nylabones and Kongs but I’m not really interested in the whole fetch thing.
I love spending time outside so a family that I can go walking, running, or hiking with would be great! I’m pretty good on a leash and my foster dad is working with me off leash. He says I’m doing pretty well. I love to wander and follow my nose so sometimes I get distracted but I’m working really hard at listening to commands. My foster parents think I’m actually pretty mellow for a GSP maybe because I’m so content snuggling on the couch! I’m looking for my forever home with a family who will love me and show me a lot of affection and also be willing to spend time continuing to train me.
