Sport
Most important things to know about me:
I’m SPORT and I’m here in Colorado, ready for my brand-new family! I came from Arizona and not very much is known about my background. But that’s OK because my foster family and the rescue have learned so muchabout me since I’ve been in the rescue. And they all seem to like me, a lot. I am a purebred GSP and they think I’m just over 2 years old.
Like most GSPs, I am pretty energetic. I absolutely LOVE being outside to run and sniff but I’m just as happy inside on my dog bed after I have run and run. I am good on a training collar but I recall very well with verbal commands as well as with the collar. Currently, I live with 2 other GSPs and the 4-year-old and I really enjoy running together. I did chase a rabbit once but came back quickly once I was recalled. We run in an awesome field beyond their 4-foot fence which I haven’t challenged but that’s because the other two dogs don’t challenge it either. I will also walk on leash and will heal most of the time but I would so much rather run off leash with my house GSP buddy. I also love chasing a tennis ball and will give it back if you want to take it from my mouth. I am really good at that! Indoors, I am pretty chilled out. I love having a dog bed or two to sprawl out on to or snuggle in tight, especially after a good run. I like toys, both stuffed toys and very hard toys that I play with and chew on. So, much of the day I am in the house and at night I have been sleeping in a crate. During the day, my Foster Dad has spent quite a bit of time with training and I’m learning a lot from him: Come, Sit, Stay, Lie down, and Potty. My manners are really good except . . . like many GSPs, I am very food driven so I do want to counter cruise! But I am responsive to correction.
My Foster Mom and Dad tell me that I am a really good boy. They say I have a very sweet personality and am also very affectionate. In fact, both of them have told the rescue that I am quite a wonderful dog. I am great with other dogs and, although they don’t have children, they think I would be just fine with them because of my mild temperament. Although I am not really rambunctious like many GSPs, I am a big boy so I might knock over a small child. Most of all, I want to be with my person/people. My Foster Mom and Dad are around most of the time and they give me lots of attention, just like their own dogs. So, if the people in my new family are not around much of the time, I think I would be pretty lonely, especially without at least one other dog so we could keep each other company.
