Timber – ADOPTED!
I’m Timber, a 6 month-old GSP mix. Although I look an awful lot like a GSP, I have some English Springer Spaniel in my genes too, (look at my ears!). The rescue thinks the combination is pretty adorable. I weigh a little over 30 lbs now but I will certainly grow more. My owner has had a difficult time deciding to rehome me but her life has changed a lot and she just can’t give me the time and attention she knows I need and really want.
I have had lots of chances to go to doggy day care and that is so much fun for me. I always check to see if a dog wants to play. If a small dog isn’t really interested, I just walk away but if they are larger dogs, I will usually try to play and sometimes roll over with them. I do love to play, I would so really like to have another playful dog in my new family. Cats are those animals that I love to chase but if someone tells me “NO”, I will leave them alone.
I love to play and run around outside with my dog friends but being with my mom is my very favorite thing to do. Although I like all my outdoor activities, I am obedience trained (sit, wait, come, down, off, no, OK) and well-behaved in the house. Of course, I am house-broken but I am not crate-trained. I sleep on the couch during the day and I love cuddling and sleeping on the bed with my mom at night. I’m very attached to her and do not like being left alone. I want to be with my person and have had some separation anxiety, so she never leaves me all alone. That’s why I go to doggy day care but I can’t keep doing that, especially every day. It would be best for me to be with a family or a person who works from home and has time to pay attention to me and spend time enjoying me, too. My mom says I am really smart so she gives me lots of brain game/treat toys like a Kong filled with peanut butter or other treats that make me work to be rewarded. I love walks with her or other people in her home so I look forward to all of those activities with my new family. Eventually, when I’m a little older, I know I will want to run with my owner and maybe hike and go camping. Since I am still a puppy, mom thinks I need some work walking on a leash.
My mom tells people that I am super sweet, incredibly smart and learn very, very fast and that I love the love, giving hugs and kisses. I’m always up for a fun, new activity and I get along with everyone.
