Tres – Adopted!
These are the most important things for me in my new home:
1) Lots of time with my new mom or dad, especially snuggling time
2) Preferably, another dog although I might be OK as an only dog if
my owner works from home or is hardly ever gone
3) Continued training
4) Lots of toys!
Hi! My name is Tres (like uno, dos, tres) and I am a 1 1/2 year old GSP mix. I am currently at a foster home with another young GSP and a young cat and I am having so much fun with both of them! Don’t be fooled by my three legs, I am FAST and STRONG! Losing my front leg hasn’t slowed me down in the slightest bit! I am the BIGGEST cuddler you will ever meet! I love to be as close to my foster mom as possible at all times. I’ve had a rough time, so I think it makes me feel safe to always have her at least within eyesight. I also love to play with my foster sibling all day long either chasing each other through the yard or playing tug inside the house. Toys are my favorite thing ever! Mom has to put them away at night so that I can settle down, but I know exactly where she hides them so I’m ready and waiting for her to get them back out the next morning. I used to get nervous that someone would take them away from me so I’d hold on real tight and grab them from others, but now I know it’s way more fun to play together.
My foster sibling loves to be outside a lot more than I do. At first I wouldn’t ever go outside without mom because I thought for sure she wouldn’t be coming back for me, but I’m slowly beginning to trust that she will more and more. I’m even getting used to going into my crate on my own whenever mom has to go run errands, which I really didn’t enjoy at first. My foster mom is working a lot on leash training and separation anxiety, but I have already learned so many other things from her like sit, stay, lay down, leave it, and no bark. Like a typical GSP, I’m very smart and treat motivated, so I know I can learn anything else very quickly if someone is willing to work with me.
I would do great in a home with other pets and/or kids, but I would also be great as an only dog as what I care about the most is being around my human at all times and getting all the snuggles and kisses I’ve always wanted!
