Whiskey – ADOPTED!
My name is Whiskey. I’m 2 years old purebred GSP. I may not be quite as cute as the rescue’s other GSP mix named Whiskey, but everyone says I am very handsome, really quite stunning, in fact. My original family adopted me as a puppy but after my mom had surgery, they felt I was probably too much dog for them while she was recovering so their son, my current dad, took me into their home to help out for a few months. But then when my mom had a stroke three months ago, they took me again. My dad and mom now know that I need training (I’m quite prey driven) but have realized that, with three other dogs, they don’t have the time to give me the attention I love and the training that I need.
I am house house-trained, maybe because we have a doggie door so I never have accidents unless I’m left alone for too long. I love walks but I’m not great on a leash so that’s some of the training that would be good for me. It would also be good for me to get off-leash training because I would love to run free without a leash. Recall training on an e-collar might just be the right thing for me. Because my current mom and dad think I’m such a wonderful pup, it took them several months to finally decide to rehome me because they know I deserve a family who can dedicate a lot of time and attention to me.
I am a very loveable and affectionate dog and I really like being with other dogs to play and to hang out. I also love chewing on my toys. I have no issues at all with other dogs and I love being with people, too. My family doesn’t have a cat so I don’t know how I would be around one. But because I am pretty prey driven, that might not be the best situation for me. I do have a bad habit of counter surfing so I need some training on that, too. My mom and dad are kind of heart-broken knowing that I will be finding a different home but they want my new family to know that I am a friendly, happy, affectionate and gentle boy who loves adventures. I so want to find a home and be part of a family who is looking forward to spending a lot of time with me and loving me so I can feel like I’m an important part of their family.
